Terceira edição da minissérie faz uma releitura sincretista do Terror

Depois de ter uma HQ do Batman negada pela DC Comics por conta de sua islamofobia - depois reescrita, essa HQ se tornaria a criticada graphic novel Holy Terror - Frank Miller venceu no fim. A terceira edição de Dark Knight III: The Master Race, que saiu nos EUA semana passada, apresenta os vilões da história, e na prática a tal "raça mestre" se comporta como os fundamentalistas da al-Qaeda.

Neste princípio de Cavaleiro das Trevas 3, em que Batman e Superman começam fora de cena, o Eléktron desenvolve um aparelho capaz de devolver o tamanho aos kandorianos - os sobreviventes de Krypton que vivem miniaturizados na cidade engarrafada de Kandor - sem desconfiar que um grupo organizado entre os alienígenas planeja conquistar a Terra. É esse grupo que surge com pegada jihadista, a começar por seu líder, Quar, que não tem barba nem turbante mas surge com sua túnica e sua poligamia como uma espécie de califa dos kriptonianos.

Não é raro vermos na ficção vilões com perfil messiânico, deflagrando guerras santas em nome de uma raça supostamente superior. Nesta terceira edição, porém, são evidentes dois paralelos que o roteiro escrito por Miller e Brian Azzarello traçam especificamente com o imaginário dos terroristas modernos. O primeiro é a cena em que um cinegrafista é escolhido pelos kandorianos para transmitir ao mundo uma execução; a diferença para os vídeos da al-Qaeda e do Estado Islâmico no YouTube (e que é uma boa sacada da HQ) é que a execução acontece no meio do céu.

O segundo paralelo é menos sutil, embora já entre num sincretismo: Quar abençoa um par de seguidores com uma espécie de semente, ingeridas como hóstias num sacramento católico (com direito a um "thank you, father", cujo "pai" também pode ser lido como "padre"), que os transforma em homens-bombas. Como estamos entre super-humanos, cada uma dessas explosões suicidas equivale a uma detonação atômica, completada com a sempre funesta imagem do cogumelo de fogo e fumaça.

A HQ sabe que está sendo literal nesse trecho, porque na página seguinte Quar diz para o cinegrafista (com os olhos incandescentes voltados para o leitor, no desenho de Andy Kubert) que "alguns de vocês podem chamar isso de bomba, e não estarão errados". O séquito de Quar parece vestido com uma variedade de figurinos pensada para não caracterizar um único grupo; há as esposas de Quar vestidas com o hijab, como há também colantes e uniformes tipicamente militares. A relação traçada com a tendência midiática dos jihadistas, porém, é inconfundível.

Talvez o que torne a coisa mais interessante, aqui, não seja exatamente a caracterização dos vilões mas o papel da mídia no embate. Miller sempre soube dar valor à potência do registro e do comentário midiático nas minisséries de O Cavaleiro das Trevas. E agora que a HQ de 1986 está já completando 30 anos, Dark Knight III está sabendo também se atualizar à realidade das comunicações hoje: o papel do governo se esvaziou na nova minissérie (Superman já parece longe de ser o cão de caça dos EUA), em comparação com o poder das redes sociais, e mesmo o Batman, incapacitado de permanecer no front de batalha, faz do registro midiático sua arma, como ele mostra nesta edição quando enfim surge em cena com seu capuz de Morcego.

Já se vão bons dez anos desde que Miller ofereceu Holy Terror à DC, sem sucesso. Talvez seu ponto de vista político diante da guerra ao Terror não tenha mudado tanto nessa década, mas Cavaleiro das Trevas 3 mostra, nesta ótima terceira edição, que ao menos o roteirista e seus colaboradores souberam adaptar a realidade do jihadismo à ficção dos super-heróis para melhor contar essa história que desde sempre teve na encenação midiática um dos seus traços mais contundentes.
