Ao longo de sua existência, a DC apresentou vários membros dos Lanternas Verde oriundos do planeta Terra: John Stewart, Guy Gardner Kyle Rayner, entre outros. Mas quem sempre se destacou foi Hal Jordan, considerado por muitos como o maior dos membros da Tropa. Porém, ele não deve ser o mais poderoso, de acordo com uma nova graphic novel.

Em Green Lantern: Legacy (via Comic Book Resources), o leitor é apresentado a dois novos membros dos Lanternas Verde: a vietnamita Kim Tran e seu neto, Tai Pham. Ela morre ainda no início, e Tai herda o anel de sua avó, e é imediatamente levado para Oa, para começar seu treino como patrulheiro da Tropa dos Lanternas Verdes. O jovem, então, começa a lidar com suas novas responsabilidades, e aprende mais sobre o passado de sua avó como Lanterna Verde, descobrindo que ela foi mentora de John Stewart. 

Outros membros da tropa contam para Tai sobre a importância da sua avó, que é considerada como uma das melhores guerreiras da Tropa, mesmo após sua morte, o que aumenta ainda mais a responsabilidade do jovem como Lanterna Verde. Assim, tudo indica que, nesta história, Kim Tran foi a mais importante membra de toda a Tropa.

A graphic novel não apresenta Hal Jordan em nenhum momento da história, nem mesmo entre os membros da Tropa. A única referência que há do herói é o nome do gato de Tai, que é Jordan. De toda forma, a história se passa em um universo diferente do cânone da DC, como muitas outras graphic novels da editora, e ela tem mais o intuito de apresentar uma história diferente dos Lanternas Verde acima de qualquer outra coisa, onde um jovem patrulheiro aprende a lidar com um grande legado, como o próprio título sugere.
