A partir da edição #6 de Phantom Stranger, o editor da DC Comics, Dan DiDio continuará a ser o responsável pelos roteiros do título, mas agora terá a ajuda do roteirista veterano J.M. DeMatteis.

A edição mostrará o Vingador Fantasma em uma partida de pôquer metafísica, apresentada pela Sorte, contra os três filhos de Trigon.

[Review] Vingador Fantasma #6: Ainda não foi dessa vez…

O Vingador Fantasma continua a procurar por sua família desaparecida, através de uma pista que o leva para o “Cassino do demônio sortudo”. Didio e DeMatteis mantém a meta de dar mais humanidade para o Vingador através de sua nova identidade civil: Phillip Stark, enquanto o mantém quase um alienígena comparado ao resto da humanidade…

Isso não funciona tão bem na prática como poderia funcionar na teoria. Uma vez no cassino, o Vingador encontra uma “moça de programa” que imediatamente lhe oferece “uma noite maravilhosa”. O Vingador responde de forma seca: “Em outras palavras, você está me oferecendo sexo, então”.

Se por um lado é claro que a intenção aqui é mostrar a natureza “sobrenatural” do Vingador, diálogos como esse fazem com que o personagem se torne esquisito e bidimensional. Assim como a insistência de manter os monólogos do personagem por toda a edição evita com que ele apresente nuances diferentes de personalidade, fazendo com que seja muito difícil se identificar com os problemas e atitudes do personagem.

A historia piora consideravelmente quando o Vingador Fantasma entra em um jogo de cartas com os três filhos de Trigon. Como o restante dessa edição, essa sequência é tratada com exagero por parte dos roteiristas, mas os elementos naturais ao jogo de pôker, conferem um pouco de tensão para o roteiro.

Os filhos de Trigon no entanto, são personagens interessantes com personalidades distintas, que contrastam com a falta de “flexibilidade” do protagonista da revista. Um detalhe no entanto é estimulante e vale a leitura da edição: ver o Vingador manipulando e superando cada um dos demônios durante o intercurso do jogo.

Eventos ocorridos em números anteriores, como o encontro do Vingador com a ex Titã, Ravena, são mencionados aqui, no entanto o enredo atual que é bom, pouco evolui.

Como foi divulgado pela DC, nessa edição temos a estreia de uma nova personagem para o universo da editora: Lady Luck – ainda sem tradução para o português, apesar de que todos nós sabemos o que seu nome significa.

Luck, como foi mostrada em material promocional do início dos Novos 52, era uma das personagens criadas para se tornar membro da nova Liga da Justiça de Geoff Johns. No entanto se essa decisão ainda vai ser mantida é um mistério, já que nessa revista nenhum detalhe sobre o passado ou futuro da personagem é revelado.

A presença de Lady Luck é extremamente limitada, aparecendo como a mulher que dá as cartas no jogo sobrenatural de pôquer que os personagens jogam. Na verdade, se não fossem pelas solicitações da DC comics que há meses avisam de sua estreia no universo da editora, ela passaria totalmente despercebida por diversos leitores e por essa resenha. Apesar de que parece que ela ainda será vista mais vezes por aí.

A melhor parte dessa edição é a arte de Gene Ha, que é assistida pelo talentoso Zander Cannon nos cenários. Ha faz um trabalho maravilho em tornar essa revista uma beleza aos olhos. Seus personagens são extremamente expressivos, chegando ao caso de muitos terem diferentes expressões faciais para as mesmas emoções que vão se repetindo durante a trama, como medo ou desgosto.

O desenhista coloca uma tonelada de detalhes em cada painel que apresenta o “Cassino do demônio sortudo”, mas assim como no roteiro, seu melhor momento na revista é trabalhando as sequências do jogo de pôquer.

O colorista dessa edição, Art Lyon, faz um trabalho lindo separando diferentes palhetas de cores para cada parte da história, colocando tons de dourado e azul nas sequências do cassino, assim como vermelho e púrpura na dimensão demoníaca que os personagens vão parar. E apesar dos filhos de Trigon terem fisionomias parecidas, com seu trabalho único, o leitor consegue facilmente identificar durante toda a história quem é quem.

Ha também é o responsável por fazer com que o jogo de pôquer, que poderia ser uma sequência visualmente monótona e confusa para o leitor, se torne o ponto alto da edição. Permitindo através de um recurso genial, que saibamos a cada passo, qual personagem está com a melhor “mão”.

Se formos avaliar como um todo, a revista do Vingador Fantasma continua desapontando, apesar de que a arte a cada troca de equipe só melhora, a caracterização de seu protagonista deixa muito a desejar.

No passado, em outra continuidade, o Vingador Fantasma era um enigmático ser, repleto de conhecimento e sabedoria. Aqui, todo o seu mistério foi removido e ele é tão falível, como qualquer mero mortal. A tentativa frustrada de humanizar o personagem, removeu do Vingador tudo o que o tornava tão especial para os fãs.

A revista DC Universe Presents #18 será inteiramente dedicada a Estelar, escrita por Joe Keatinge com arte de Federico Dallocchio, mesma equipe que criou a edição anterior, focada no Arsenal.

A história dará mais detalhes a respeito da versão da Estelar nos Novos 52, que foi duramente criticada pelas roupas e atitudes, consideradas desrespeitosas pelas defensoras dos direitos femininos.

Segundo Keatinge, após escrever a edição especial de Arsenal, ele decidiu continuar com histórias detalhando os personagens de Red Hood and the Outlaws.

Scott Snyder anuncia saída da revista do Monstro do Pântano

O que já era esperado foi confirmado pelo próprio escritor Scott Snyder: ele está de saída da revista mensal do Monstro do Pântano, a qual ele relançou em setembro de 2011 como parte do reboot da DC Comics. O desenhista Yanick Paquette também deixará as histórias do personagem.
O último trabalho da dupla será em Swamp Thing # 18, à venda em março de 2013, que mostrará e epílogo da saga Rotworld, na qual Monstro do Pântano e Homem Animal enfrentaram a Podridão.
Com novos projetos engatilhados para 2013, como um novo título para a Vertigo e uma série mensal com o Superman ao lado do desenhista Jim Lee, Snyder se viu obrigado a abrir mão de alguns trabalhos. Vampiro Americano sofrerá um hiato no próximo ano.
"Para deixar claro, Paquette e eu planejamos esse final para nossa fase na revista que remete à história apresentada desde a primeira edição. Mesmo antes de termos assinado para trabalhar no título, nossa participação seria por um tempo limitado porque teríamos outros projetos. A chance de fazer o Monstro do Pântano, e trazer de volta esse personagem que tanto amamos desde nossa infância, era irrecusável", afirmou o autor pelo Twitter.
Segundo ele, a dupla acabou permanecendo por mais tempo do que o planejado inicialmente.
Snyder e Paquette conseguiram fazer de Monstro do Pântano uma das séries mais elogiadas do reboot, um sucesso que o personagem não via há anos. A editora ainda não anunciou a nova equipe criativa. " Por favor, apoiem os novos autores, pois certamente eles tem a nossa benção", finalizou.

Grant Morrison comenta trabalhos com Superman e Mulher-Maravilha

Hoje, dia 20 de março, foi lançada a última edição de Action Comics escrita por Grant Morrison. Desde o primeiro número, publicado em setembro de 2011, o escritor foi responsável por apresentar a nova origem do Homem de Aço no reformulado Universo DC, e definir as fundações nas quais o principal herói da editora passaria a se basear.
O plano inicial era ele escrever apenas as seis primeiras edições, mas seu trabalho acabou durando um ano e meio. O último arco de histórias envolve um misterioso personagem chamado Vyndktvx, originário da quinta dimensão, que ataca o Superman em diferentes momentos da vida dele, em linhas de tempo distintas. E mostra também uma nova versão do Apocalypse.
"Espero que, ao final do trabalho, o Superman tenha ficado definido como um amálgama das versões passadas, de maneira que outros escritores possam contar qualquer história a partir de agora. Pode mostrar o lado messiânico que esteve presente nos anos 2000, ou o viril herói que ele era na década de 1970, ou mesmo brigão da década de 1930, quando não levava desaforo para casa", analisou Morrison em entrevista ao site Entertainment Weekly.
Segundo o autor, seu principal objetivo era fazer do herói um personagem confiante, sempre no limite e um pouco arrogante. "Nós sabemos que ele não é arrogante porque é o Superman. Gosto desse conceito de alguém que não desiste nunca. Mesmo quando pensamos que ele está derrotado, encontra uma maneira de deter o vilão. Para mim, ele representa isso. Como uma ideia em nossa cabeça, o Superman não pode ser parado. Batman luta contra a morte, e o Superman luta contra o impossível. Esses são os seus antagonistas definitivos", comparou.
"O que torna o Superman único é que não existem muitos desses personagens em que podemos confiar totalmente. Em todas as histórias dele queremos ter um sentimento de otimismo. Ele abraça o futuro, mesmo que seja uma Terra devastada dominada por zumbis. Super-heróis acreditam que a raça humana tem um futuro", disse.
Morrison comentou também o andamento da minissérie Multiversity, na qual ele vai explorar o multiverso da DC Comics, afirmando que o roteiro já está pronto e os desenhistas terminando seus trabalhos. Frank Quitely já entregou todas as artes de sua parte, e o lançamento pode acontecer no final do ano.
O escritor está trabalhando também em um novo projeto com a Mulher-Maravilha, como já se sabia. Entretanto, ele preferiu não dar detalhes. "Estou tentando fazer algo um pouco mais diferente, mas não posso falar sobre formato, porque ainda não foi anunciado. Todos sabem que eu estou fazendo, e já recebi páginas do artista, que também não posso revelar quem é", despistou.
Os rumores dão conta de que o desenhista será Yanick Paquette, que recentemente terminou seu trabalho na revista mensal do Monstro do Pântano. A história pode ser uma espécie de Mulher-Maravilha - Ano Um.
